Brain Tumor Beware

Miles for Hope

Robert Gibbs and his wife Barb have organized a bike ride to raise funds that will be used to enable low-grade glioma and pediatric brain tumor patients to enroll in a ground breaking clinical trial that they are currently ineligible for. The event will be held in Clearwater, Florida on September 20, 2008. For more details go to the MilesForHope.org.

The Oligo Fund

The purpose of the Oligo Fund is to support research from prominent researchers and institutions specifically for oligodendroglioma brain tumors. In particular, the Oligo Fund will support translational research or clinical trials either directly involving oligodendrogliomas or that will lead to treatments that, if effective, are expected to be beneficial in treating oligodendroglioma patients.

The fund is hosted by the Musella Foundation where a page has been set up specifically for donations. You can donate by going to the Oligo Fund donation page at virtualtrials.com. Your donation will be tax-exempt.

Musella Foundation

The Musella Foundation For Brain Tumor Research & Information, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non- profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and survival times for brain tumor patients by using computer technology to streamline the flow of information, organize the brain tumor community and raise money for brain tumor research. The Virtual Trials website is maintained by the Musella Foundation For Brain Tumor Research & Information.

You can donate to the Musella Foundation by going to the donations page at their website.

T.H.E. Brain Trust

The Healing Exchange (T.H.E.) Brain Trust is an organization that is focused on helping patients and families affected by brain tumors. There are many web-based support groups hosted by the T.H.E. Brain Trust and many volunteers working diligently to keep those support groups available to those in need of them. This organization also works hard to bring awareness of issues related to brain tumors to the general public and our government.

Unlike many other brain tumor support organizations, T.H.E. Brain Trust has support groups dedicated to specific kinds of brain tumors. This has proven to be enormously helpful to those looking for specific information and who want to converse with others who have the same types of tumors. The help I received from the oligodendroglioma support group may well have saved my daughter's life.

There are several ways for you to contribute to this great organization. Please go to their contribution page to learn more.

Grey Ribbon Crusade

The Grey Ribbon Crusade is a movement created by the Heroes of Hope initiative. It seeks to unite the many organizations and individuals who strive for the common goal of a cure for brain cancer. By bringing all of these groups and people together into one united front, the Grey Ribbon Crusade will give it's members the advantage of a national brand that will raise awareness on a much larger scale.

You can learn more by going to www.greyribboncrusade.org. There are many organizations listed there that you might want to join forces with or donate to.
